Draught @ Stearin. Pours hazy golden with a big creamy and frothy offwhite head that is very slow to dissipate while leaving lots of sticky lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is tiny malty, herbal, tiny floral and slightly fruity with white bread, grapefruit juice, straw, persimmon, soil, lemon balm, biscuits, orange zest and hints of butterscotch. Taste is slightly sweet, tiny bitter, slightly malty, tiny fruity, herbal and tiny floral with buttered sweet dark bread, biscuits, straw, grapefruit juice, orange zest, lemon zest, grape skins, lemon balm, moist dew-infused grass, damp soil, persimmon, lychee and hints of butterscotch hard candy and alcohol. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny astringent and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, tiny bitter, slightly herbal, slightly fruity and tiny floral with buttered dark bread, moist grass, orange zest, lemon zest, damp soil, grape skins, biscuits and subtle hints of alcohol. I didn’t expect much at all but this is very much exactly what it wants to be which adds up to a surprisingly good beer.
