What can we say about Bombshell? Wow, seems to be a popular starting point. So much flavour packed into a Blonde beer is unusual. The very clear flavour of grapefruit at the finish is most unusual and most delicious. It’s a beer that will change the way some people view real ale and that’s the kind of beer we can be proud of!!

A blonde beer, very refreshing on the palate with great citrus grapefruit flavours to finish..

500ml bottle from Connolly's Wine Merchants, online. Clear dark gold, small white head, some retention. Aroma of malts, straw and pear. Taste has a nice fruitiness to it with notes of pear, melon, citrus zest, malts, some biscuit. Light bodied, dry and bitter finish. Its a good gold.

Cask ale at Alehouse, half-pint shared with Finn. Bright, warm golden body, filmy layer, scattered lacing. Inviting smell of lemony hops and soft malts. Mixed taste of grass, lemon and oily hops with mild malty sweetness beneath. Mid-dry bitterness to the ending. Well made and well kept at the pub. (Reading, 01.10.2023).

500ml bottle from Everyman's whilst nursing my fractured shoulder blade. Clear gold pour with a pure white head. Aroma of sweet fragrant hop citrus. Taste bears a pleasant fragrant hop sweetness, with allusions to premium lager, fine bitter close. Decent trad pale sipper that doesn't rely solely on the malt.

24th Aug 2018, cask half-pint, gravity pour; 22nd Codsall Station Beer Festival. Light golden body, wispy head. Nice blend with citrus fruits to the fore in both the nose and taste, good malt base too, so it was grapefruit citrusy yet semi-sweet in nature also.

Bottle at home from Laithwaite. A lovely pale, almost straw, colour in the tankard with minimal head. There was some aroma of malt and biscuit, but not much. The temperature was perfect and it meant that the taste was stupendous. Toasty malt, biscuit, a bit of soil and farmyard and some good bittering hops. There was also subtlety to this beer that showcased the ingredients. The strong malt made for a smooth mouthfeel. Oh, this was a lovely pint. One of those beers that you know you could just go on drinking and drinking throughout the evening and never get bored. This is a remarkable example of how good an English bitter can be.
