Everyone has their price. For some, it's measured in dollars, for others it's measured in powder days. For those that have the gift of passion for the dark side, it's measured in pints of Totality Imperial Stout. Dark brown to black in color and nearly opaque, Totality has a velvet-like mouthfeel, moderate hints of dark dried fruit, espresso, beans and dark chocolate, with just a hint of hop bitterness striking the perfect balance. Welcome to the Dark Side, friends.

Thanks to Beer Savant for sharing during his 50th birthday bash. Pours a dark brown color with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes slowly. Patchy lacing. Aroma of roast malt and coffee. Full-bodied with flavors of roast malt, dark chocolate and coffee. The finish is roasty with a resiny hops and malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Bottle. Pours deep opaque black with a medium dark brown head that slowly dissipates leaving nice lacing. Aroma is very roasty, chocolate. Flavor is about the same, just a touch of anise, medium coffee bitterness on the finish, only a light sweetness. Medium-full body. Bitterness lingers and strengthens to the far finish. Warming on the finish as well. Pretty nice beer.

Bomber from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours very dark brown/black with a cream dark tan head. Aroma of roasty malt with treacle and some herbal hop. Full bodied. Flavor is darkly roasty/burnt with treacle and non-fruity, non-resin hop. It is dry and almost astringent. Finishes with treacle notes and very bitter. Leaves a burnt earthy flavor in the mouth. Extremely tasty. So good of the brewer to release this base beer.

Poured up on tap at Falling rock. It has a pure clear deep amber body that supports a micro thin tan head of foam. The rich aroma offers up brown sugar covered plums and prunes and moves into smooth sweet candy like bourbon notes. The taste has smooth sweet rich bourbon notes mixing with molasses and ripe plums and a light sense of dark roasted maltiness. This is rich and smooth and delicious, a great sipper.

On tap in Denver for GABF 2012. Pours a viscous black with a light off-white head. A big nose of fruit and coffee. A massive beer with bitter chocolates, some dark fruit, very smooth palate. The base for the eclipse beers and it shows why they are so good!

bottled. Woody, phenolic nose with tires and berries. Woody, roasty flavor, cola. Sweet and phenolic. Nice, but the burnt rubber is too much for me. Much better as Eclipse!
