23rd July 2014
Hazy amber beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is semi dry and minerally crisp. Thin malts with an odd stewed tea like taste. Sweetish floralness followed by a good dose of bitterness in the dry finish. Thoroughly odd and not very palatable.

Bottle from Ninas. It pours clear golden-amber with a small white head. The nose is soft orange, sherbet, brioche, candied peel and parma violets. The taste is bitter, orange peel, orange sherbet, straw, dough, toasty grass and light biscuit with a dry, citric finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Nice orange sherbet stuff going.

50cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - light amber with proportional head. Nose - lemon and hay with some honey in the background. Taste - more lemon and hay, lemon again on the finish. Palate - medium bodied with a fairly textured middle and a long dry finish. Overall - thirst quenching, definitely a hot weather pale/golden ale.

Bottle from Cloisters. Hazy golden body with a medium off-white head. Very light carbonation. Nice lacing. The aroma is not as powerful as I was expecting - hay, grain, honey, pine and soft citrus fruit. The flavours are well balanced and refreshing. Lemon and grapefruit - very dry finish. Thin body with an oily texture. Soft carbonation. A really dry, refreshing, well balanced beer.

Keg at the Hanging Bat. Pours clear golden yellow with good white head. Big aromas of grapefruit, mango, and tropical fruits generally. Some malt coming through finally. Initially thought it had too much hop bite, but this mellowed out over the course of the glass. Really nice beer for the strength. Excellent.

Cask @ The Vintage, Leith [080713]
Amber, slight haze, nice pillowy dense white head, good lacing
Aroma of soft tropical fruits, sweet fruity mellow grapefruit pith, sweet pale fruity malt, soft sweet resinous hop
Taste of tropical fruits, soft grapefruit, tangy citrus, slight grassy hop. really nice soft fruity pale malt backbone, decent fresh hoppy flavour
Palate - Medium body, smooth. Finish as main flavour but a little over dry on the linger
Overall - A really good beer - shame I could only have a 1/4 pt
