Golden in colour, a pale ale in style: fresh-tasting and with good malt backbone. Hoppy without being aggressively front-loaded, the beer showcases the fruit and pine notes of the US Simcoe hop. Bottled for M&S.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at M&S Canary Wharf. Pours clear gold, lightly effervescent, with a frothy, white head. Simple crispy mats in the nose, some lightly ripened citrus Fritos, hints of diesel, rind. Light-medium sweet flavour with simple bready malts, lemon peel, tangerine, hay. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Decent balance on the finish, with more simplistic and sweet pale bread, but the hop character is pretty mellow. Just light citrus notes. So so overall.

Bottle at home split with Sarah, picked up from Camden M&S. A clear golden / orange coloured pour with a lasting loose white frothy head. Aroma is grassy hop, mineral with a hint of sulphur, English yeast esters. Flavour is composed of semi sweet grainy malts, grain husk, mineral, grassy, hedgerow berry hop. Palate is medium bodied, semi sweet, highish carbonation, dusty. A decent enough beer.

Bottle, courtesy of TVT, round at his on a brewday. Clear gold. Bubbly, thickish, white head. Light Simcoe on the nose. Grainy malts. Some soft toffee. Hint of berry fruits. Taste is light bitter, with toffee sweetness. Decent body. Pretty clean. Light bitter finish. Didn’t expect much in the way of hoppage, and this delivered. Ok.

Bottle from Euston M&S and drunk on the train to Liverpool. Clear gold lasting white head. odd simcoe single hop .some bitterness on the finish. some lemon grapefruit but also a little herb there too. A little blueberry maybe on the aroma. Mostly yellow grapefruit and lemon in the mouth. Quite sharp. Mlrs are pale and soft. Ok golden ale. Better than most. More hops. Its ok but wanted more from the Simcoe.
