2014-02-12, draught at Mikkeller Bar, Viktoriagade, 6-5-6-3-11=31
Cloudy red-amber color with creamy head. The aroma is mild, a bit fruity, spicy, and a bit feety (from the yeast; this is a homebrew flaw). Strong body, sweet, but the flavor is not necessarily malty; it has some light fruity touch from the fermentation, strong bitterness, some hop resins, some oranges from the hops, and some yeast in the final.
Quite chaotic and unclean.
2014-01-22, bottle at På Besök, Malmö, 6-5-7-3-13=34
batch 01, bb 9.09.2018
Dark amber color, beautiful, hazy, with generous compact head. The aroma is mild, some caramel, very light apple (this is not a good sign). Correct body strength, although bolder and sweeter was expected; caramel flavor, very nutty, with a vegetable impression; the bitterness is reasonably strong. Balanced overall.
It doesn’t have the maltiness of a true Barley Wine, it’s closer to some extra hopped Strong Belgian, and in any case it’s not very exciting.

Draft. A hazy amber beer with a lazing light tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, over ripe fruits, caramel, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, over ripe fruits, caramel, and bread, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

Draught @ All In Beer Fest 2013. Very happy they brought this with them too. Pours murky reddish brown with a frothy goldenish offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving some thick lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet with caramel, sweet dark bread, unprocessed grains, alcohol, prunes, raisins, figs, dry wood and lemon zest. Taste is sweet, bitter and very tiny sour with caramel, oatmeal cookies, sweet dark bread, figs, dates, prunes, raisins, hay, lemon zest, dry wood, alcohol and biscuits. Mouthfeel is round, smooth, boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is bitter, tiny fruity and malty with biscuits, caramel, oatmeal cookies, lemon zest, grass, figs, raisins, golden syrup and hints of alcohol and lemon zest. This one needs another 6-12 months to mature but it’s a good barley wine base and I detect none of the chemical acetone components some previous ratings have mentioned. Will try to catch this again in a year if it’s still available...
