12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a small white head. A light nose of sugary toast. Wow, what a great flavor: rich chocolates, vanilla, dark German cake, some brown malt, toffee. Robust. Very drinkable. Quite surprising in terms of the amount of flavor for a unassuming beer. Well that’s central PA for you.

Sampled on draft at the Headkeeper this beer poured a dark brown color with orange highlights and a small foamy tan head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was medicinal with cola and strange off ripe fruits. The flavor was tart and bitter with molasses, dark fruits, a hint of gingerbread and a medicinal presence. Long finish. Medium body. Meh

on tap at the bowsers. mild beer aroma. no hint of a doppel on the olfactory. nice and dark fer sure. taste is rather mild for a 7%, it really hides the alky well, much better tasten than other doppels. goes down rather easy, on style for straub, easy fun stuff, liking this. Slight medicine near the finsh but just barely perceivable. yes, much better than expected. some vanilla edges in there in the last slug.
