Bottle from the brewery online shop. This one 7.3%. Appearance - mat black and opaque. Beige to tan head. Nose - creamy dark chocolate and coffee roast. Taste - bitter dark chocolate then creamy coffee with bitter roast on the finish. Palate - medium bodied, roasty edge to it. Overall - good though not my style at all. Base beer good but the coffee addition makes it less complex.

Cask at the 14th Egham Beer Festival at the EUSC, 28/03/13. Pitch black with a well presented dirty tan head that retained its presence well. This looks the bollocks! Nose is big roast malt, dark chocolate, coffee, real fresh aromas about this one, molasses. Taste comprises dark chocolate, coffee, roast malt, peppery notes, light booze. Full bodied with fine carbonation, dry and roasty toasty in the finish. An excellent high ABV cask stout - beer of the festival!

Cask-conditioned at the Three Crowns, Chippenham 16/2/2013. Almost black in colour with a tight tan head. Aroma of porridge oats, dark chocolate and black coffee. Flavour had plenty more chocolate, a touch of fudge sweetness and more coffee, before a lingering, dry finish. Very good.
