Our Standard Porter, brewed with a complex malt profile for tones of liquorice, coffee, dark chocolate and hopped with Magnum and Columbus for a gentle spice and resiny mouth feel. Great with oysters.

Bottled, batch PSP013.01, BB 17.May.2015, large sample. Dark brown color, medium to big frothy brown head which sounded like soda pop when pouring. Aroma of lots of roasted malts, licorice, coffee, some dark chocolate, dark bread, hint of iron (signs of oxidation). Quite a lot of malt based bitterness in flavor, but also some sweetness. Bit high on carbonation, which cleans the palate and removes the sweetness and creaminess. And thats usually the part I like about the beer. The high carbonation ruins the beer a bit, which is a pity, cause I think it does have some potential.

Thick, firm brown-tan hed over deep brown beer; some fine lace. Rich nose with lots of chocolate and dark malt/maltcake or -crumble. Hint at fresh herbs (cilandro, parsley?) and hops. Nice. Roastiness soon giving way to a malty, cakey sweetness; Only in the very end again more bitterness, as in black chocolate, roastcrust or, indeed, hops. Again something I usually associate with oatmeal stout/porter - a grainy creaminess. Feels very carbonated, hint at alcohol, bit agressive. Yet creamy-viscous, rather well-bodied. Very good porter, IMO, pleasing, not too burnt as some. (As to the blurb, because I ain’t got no oyster money!)
