English hops and a loaded grist bill of nine roasted and crystal malts deliver a powerful, indulgent but beautifully balanced beer.

440ml can from Middle Farm, Firle. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a very short-lived, fizzy, tan head. The aroma is roasty, light chocolate. The flavour is moderate to light sweet, light liquorice bitter, with a light, watery, light chocolate, light vanilla, fake sugar, liquorice bitter palate. Light bodied with lively initial carbonation. The commercial description says it’s rich, creamy, powerful and indulgent. It isn’t. It’s light, very watery and fizzy. Really can’t recommend this beer and I won’t buy it again. Very disappointing.

Cask at The River Ale House, Greenwich. Deep dark brown pour with a beige head. The River Ale House Nose is dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, cocoa. Flavours of chocolate cake, creamy coffee, cocoa, raisin. Tasty sweet malty stout.
