A full light tan head on a dark mahogany body. The nose is relatively subtle with rich malt, brown sugar and hints of candied fruit and acidity. This is a lovely bit of craftsmanship. Smooth caramel malt is the base element with dark berries, raisins and candied fruit. there are touches of rum-like warmth, fruity esters and toffee, A smooth, full bodies Abbey Dubbel with well balanced complexities.

Poured from 500mL bottle (pkg 2024/05/15; 8% abv; 18 ibu). Hazed medium dark brown with small beige head. Soft belgian yeast, mild caramel, really nicely balanced. Excellent.

Bottle, backlog April 2014. Clear reddish body under a small tan head. Aroma has caramel malt, spices, dry fruit like prunes and raisins. Taste is sweet with lots of malt, caramel, dry fruit, spices, low bitterness and some alcohol. Strong body and sweet aftertaste. Nice and tasty but ends up a bit too sticky sweet for my likings.

Bottle in Montreal hotel room. Dark brown colour, medium-sized creamy beige head and lace. Plum, date and wood in the nose. Medium-bodied. Similar plum, raisins, toffee, earthy notes in the flavour. Pleasant abbey dubbel.

BOTTLE 500 CL shared. Fruity, caramel and spicy winy notes (that get lost as it warms up), a bit of toasted grains. Light fruity estery notes, simple candyish sugars, light spice. Decent.
