We have dived back into the history books as inspiration for this one. Six different malts give a depth to this beer, which is hopped at five stages of the brewing process to allow the character of the noble hop varieties to shine through.

Cask at Akkurat. Pours dark brown with a light tan head. Lovely smooth brew, taste of milk chocolate and bitter cacao. Big taste but yet a balanced porter and not too hevy.

Cask at The George, Croydon. It pours near black with a small beige head. The nose is roasted malt, coffee, earth, dark caramel and faint smoke. The taste is roasted malt, liquorice, earth, salt, coffee, good level of bitterness and a touch of dark fruit with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Good depth of flavour. A tasty, robust porter.
