A thick, heavy beer. Much like a brown ale with added sugar, and I didn’t realize how strong it was until I looked it up to enter the rating. Lots of malt flavor but there are hops. Some caramel, and nuts.

Bottle form Bert’s 2013 vintage Pours a pretty damn murky brownish amber with a creamy off white head that persists forever before leaving some pretty impressive rings of lace that remind me of something on nitro. Aromas of brown sugar, caramel, and toffee with hints of melanoid, along with cherries, plums, and clove like spices. The flavor is sweet with dark sugars up front. Bits of ethanol and a light sherry with some fruity notes comes next. Lingering sweet sugar with lots of earthy hop flavor long into the finish. Medium body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a sweet almost syrupy mouthfeel. This is one odd brew. I felt the flavors while not objectionable really didn’t mesh all that well.

Pour is a murky brown with a small tan head. Aroma is molasses, caramel and tobacco. Flavor is dark fruit and candi sugar. Lots of plum and raison. Finish has lots of sticky malt, toffee and brown sugar. This was a very tasty and heavy winter warmer.

Bottle, 12oz. A reddish brown unclear beer topped by a dense, light beige head leaving some lacings. The aroma is quite fruity, both citrus fruits and dark dried fruits, with caramel, some roasted notes and pine cone hints. It’s sweet and full-bodied, perhaps a bit too carbonated. Coffee, dark dried fruits, citrus peel and some bitterness in the flavor, lasting for a good while. There’s a faint touch of metal in the very end. Nice. 131123

Bottle @ Scooper Tasting in Ulfborg. Pours cloudy ruby amber with small off-white head. Clear aroma of hops, with notes of grass and subtle citrus touches. Bitter, hoppy flavour, with deep, sweetish, fruity and caramellish notes, and pleasant, warming alcohol presence. Sweetish finish with notes of hops. Nice.

Ulfborg weekend celebration of nothing in particular. Hazy red amber with a lasting, creamy off-white head. Caramel dominated aroma with dark sugar and a hint of dried fruit. Sweet, sugary flavour with caramel, alcohol and a roasted note, and a decent bitter finish
