Sample at the Willoughby PBCCP tasting on 11/17/2013: Cloudy dark amber color with a medium foamy beige head that dissipates gradually. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of malt, roasted nuts and hops. Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, dark fruits and earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a lingering earthy malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

12 ounce bottle. Hazy amber brown color topped by a small rocky beige head. Caramel malt nose with spicy undertones. Rich tangy toasted malt flavor. Complex bittersweet malt and hop mix offers a big mouthful of flavor. Earthy hops and nutty malt character. Very tasty.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark and ruddy with a tan head. Aroma is fruity, suggesting wine. Med + body. Flavor is nutty malt with some darkish fruit. It’s not really dry, but it’s not very sweet. Certainly has some mixed hop - but the characteristics are a bit muddled together. Which doesn’t hurt the flavors. Put this down as an almost spicy winter warmer. Nice.

12 ounce bottle. Nice brown ale flavor with a little seasonal spice added. High alcohol content but you wouldn’t know it by the taste (unlike many others). Many people here will hate it simply because it’s from AB but it’s pretty good.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Pours a clear dark copper color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of caramel malts, nutty notes, mild candied citrus and stone fruits. The taste is toasted malts, caramel, green apple, jellied fruits, mild roast and toffee. Medium bodied, slight bitterness, average carbonation. Well balanced, drinkbable, slightly warming. Nice beer.
