Moa Five Hop is a New Zealand take on a traditional English ale. A range of Nelson Hops including Cascade, Pacifica, Motueka, Hallertau and Sauvin give Moa Five Hop a savoury, hoppy nose and creamy, honeyed characters on the palate. A well-balanced companion to any meal.
Tasting Notes
Moa Five Hop Winter Ale utilises pilsner, Vienna, Munich and crystal malts to produce a distinctive mouth feel and flavour. New Zealand grown B Saaz and Hallertau aroma hops are used to produce an ale with an extremely high bitterness. An English ale yeast completes this ‘Brewer’s Beer’. Moa Five Hop is a strong ale fermented at warm temperatures to maximise aromatic and floral aromas. The English ale yeast provides a low apparent attenuation and sweeter finish. Bottle conditioned, Moa Five Hop will age well. Moa Five Hop is best served at approximately 9-11˚C in a tulip glass.

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Clear orange with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and moderate hoppy - fruity and spicy. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 121013

Bottle, 6.2%. Hazy amber/orange with small off-white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, fruit and hop. Flavour is malt, fruit, caramel, medium sweet, hop, little rip fruit and a little bitter.

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are caramel, fruits, bitter hops, little flowers and malt. Semi high carbonation.

Aroma: The nose has some bready malts, yeast, spice, and a good bit of fruit
Appearance: It pours a hazed dark orange color with a frothy tan head and sticky lacework
Flavor: The taste is clean and malty, some fruity flavors mid-plate, and some spice on the finish
Palate: The body is light-medium, with a clean feel, soft carbonation, and a somewhat dry finish
Overall Impression: Not a bad one at all, but nothing special either. I wouldn't have guessed this one at over 4.5%, so it feels quite sessionable even if the ABV is easily clear of 5%. Not a standout, but I have no complaints either...

375 ml corked and caged bottle. Cloudy toffee colored liquid topped by a small creamy beige head. Soft toasted malt nose with hints of piney hops. Toasted malt flavor quickly turns to bitter hops. Some tart lemony character with spicy peppery undertones combine with subtle smokey maltiness. Finishes tart with a dry hoppiness.

Pours dark amber with a small head.Very malty aroma, with rich bready and caramel notes along with spicy and floral hops.Flavours are not as complex, but include some bready malt, pine and spicy hops.Body seems a bit watery.

bottle - Murky pour with a really big off-white head and an aroma of floral and citrus hops. It’s medium bodied with a moderately strong floral hop flavor. The finish is off-putting to me. I’m getting a bandage character that worsens as the beer warms. Not good. This beer had a promising start but didn’t finish well.

(bottle) Hazy amber with big white head. Lovely citrusy floral aroma. Medium body with excellent mouthfilling find carbonation. Flavour is dominated by hops, but in a good way. There are subtle undercurrents of malt, dried fruit and citrus. Nice bitter finish. Overall an impressive beer.
