A 3.5% dark ruby beer with roasted notes and a smooth, creamy taste. A favourite of lovers of a good mild. Especially popular in East Lancashire and loved as a guest further afield. One of the finest Dark Yorkshire milds still in independent production.

Bottle 50cl. @home poured into a pint glass. Opaque amberbrown colour, good creamy tan head, good retention, fair lacing. Aroma dark roasted malt, caramel, candy sugar, liquorice, dark fruit. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, roast, caramel, sweet syrup, dark chocolate, raisins, spicy notes. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, malty sweetbitter aftertaste, roast notes, smooth and tasty, very nice.

Half pint from cask @ Pikkulintu Ruttopuisto. Pours very dark brown with no head. Aroma is light roasted malts. Flavor is dry light roasted malts, some coffee, some hops. Soft as it should.

(Cask, gravity, at Pikkulintu Ruttopuisto, 20240118) The beer poured black. Its head was tiny and white. Aroma had toasted malts, caramel and grass. Palate was medium bodied and dry with low carbonation. Flavours were grass, toasted malts, caramel and bitterness. Aftertaste was toasty and bitter. Nice.

Cask at London Craft Beer Festival 2023. Almost black, with a frothy head. Nose is cocoa, caramel, light hops. Citrus and other fruits in the flavor, chocolate, leafy hops. Decent mild.

28/10/2021. Cask at the 2021 Norwich Beer Festival. Pours almost black with a small bubbly brown head. Aroma of light roasted malt, dark chocolate, dark fruits. Moderate sweetness, light roasted bitterness. Moderate body, slightly watery, soft carbonation.

Cask at Norwich Beer Fest: Poured an almost black brown with a light brown head. Aroma is rich malty, chocolate. Taste is super rich malty, light chocolate, drying finish.
