Our big, bold shout-out to Spokane, this copper-colored ale is our most complex offering. Munich and Crystal malts lay down a supportive body, while Chinook and Cascade — our favorite Washington-grown hops — bring the citrus and piney flavors (plus Northern Brewer for a hint of mint). We dry-hop with Cascade and CTZ for bigger hop aromas that enhance an immensely satisfying IPA.

Bottle: Cloudy, brown/amber with a short beige head. Musty orange, caramel scent. Taste is orange-peel, herbal hops, resin... Straightforward bittering... Ok, but nothing outstanding....

(Bottle) Hazy amber colour with lasting, rocky, beige head, leaving traces of lacing. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dried apricots, orange marmalade, caramel, candy sugar, honey and pine needles. Malty, fruity taste with dried apricots, orange peel, pink grapefruit, caramel, bitter orange marmalade, pine needles and a generous citric/piney bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a slight sweetness. Well made and tasty IPA with a solid grapefruity bitterness and malt to back it up. Very nice.

Bottle shared during the IoW Jolly. Pours clear, deep gold, effervescent, with a tan cream head. Dank citrus in the aroma with some secondary notes of herbs and pine. Medium sweet flavor with grassy bitterness, oily pine, papaya, grapefruit and orange. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately resinous to conclude, with orange, toasty pale malts and sticky pine. Good one.

Bottle shared on the 76 year old drinking shelf thanks to James F, IOW Jolly Day, 24/08/14. Clear golden amber with a well appointed light beige covering. Nose is pine, caramel malt, bitter hops, orange pith, tangerine, sprucey wood. Taste comprises pine, bitter orange, straw, grapefruit, nice piney streak. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi aggressive hop bitterness in the close. Decent enough IPA.

Hazy deep amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and crispy. Light malt base with very light toffee, not that sweet. Little dry cream. Hops are a light spicy pine with mild marmalade and tropical fruits. Light dry finish. Mild piney linger. Not all IPAs have to be malt neutral and this one isn’t. Nice balance of flavours.

Bottle shared by James on the wibbly-wobbly above ground tube during the IoW Jolly... It pours clear orange-amber with a small white head. The nose is bitter-sweet orange, orange, Irn Bru, mango, candied peel and light florals. The taste is crisp, bitter, alcohol, woody, pine, resinous, Irn Bru, citrus and light toffee with a very dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. More malty than I would have preferred, but decent enough anyhow.

Bottle from GBBF 2014 and drunk at home. Clear reddish orange amber lasting thick creamy beige head. Certainly piney resiny on the aroma. Lots of hops. malts are there to balance though. Some caramel sweetness. It’s a decent American IPA. Bit too sweet for me. And the hoppiness is more bitterness than fruit or flowery. Burntness. So it’s a toffee sweet bitter ipa. OK, but the hops aren’t very forward on this.

12oz bottle pours with a near clear copper body that supports a light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up some citrus, a bit of spicy hops and a sense of raspberry. The taste starts with a pleasing mix of hop flavor coming from slices of sweetened pink grapefruit, some spicy dank hops, floral hops and then a firm pine hop bitterness. The pine takes over midway and then toward the finish with a complimentary resiny hop edge. It slides into the finish with quickly fading hop bitterness leaving a well-rounded and balanced taste to ponder into the after taste. Nice brew.
