Aah... it’s my first imperial stout since summer mercilessly vanished into the past, waiting to torment me again in nine months. 22 oz. bottle from Wine Warehouse. Very, very dark brown, nearly black, with almost no head. Rich roasted malt aroma with notes of coffee, vanilla, soy, bread and cream. Taste is very strong roasted malts, soy, coffee, wood, slightly stringent alcohol. Full bodied and a definite sipper.

12 oz bottle-pours a rich brown head with trailing lace and black color. Aroma is dark malt-licorice/molasses/tar, alcohol, wood, dark fruit. Taste is alcohol, smooth, breath catching, big, dark malt-licorice/molasses/tar, alcohol, wood, dark fruit. Balanced by secondary hops. Sipping. Not my style but nicely done. Full body. Aging would probably take some of the edge off. Better cold, not cellar. Alcohol phenols are a detractor and they stand way out at cellar temp. 3.0 090623- @Tampa Weekly Gathering rerate

Pours viscous and black, with a short-lived, tan head that disappears almost completely - aroma of bittersweet chocolate, roasted malts, brown sugar, potent alcohol, some phenols, and a quad-like belgian dark fruit character - low carbonation, with a slick, oily mouthfeel - the alcohol is spicy at first, and gradually swells to warming, eventually burning a bit too much in the finish - along the way, bittersweet chocolate, a bit of tartness present first, followed by roasted malt - then come the belgian characteristics, mostly in the form of dark, candied fruits, but there are some fairly present phenols that get a little plastic-like as the beer warms - tartness returns in the finish, with an almost vinous character, but the alcohol overpowers these traits - I was hoping this beer would redeem Weyerbacher for me, but at most it has made me dislike them slightly less.

Hmmm, I was hoping for a bit more from this one, as I’ve tried alot of really good "belgian imperial stouts" lately. Started with an appealing pour, quite dark, near black with a dark brown head. Very rich and viscous looking. Aroma was a combo of american style imperial stout (some roast, big heavy chocolate covered fruits such as cherries and raspberries) plus some belgiany traits, mainly some phenols that were skirting the edges. Flavor was huge, over the top. Not really sure I liked it, a train wreck between the huge sweet malts and high alcohol with some phenols and fruitiness of belgian inspiration. This beer seemed to lack focus, and was over the top for sake of being over the top.

22oz bottle. Pitch black color with not too much head to speak of. Aroma of chocolate spirits, full of alcoholic sweetness.. Really on the fringes of beer tastes, some imperial chocolate roastiness is certainly still there, but this one is fast approaching liqueur. Some faint hoppiness dares to stand up to the malt backbone and is demolished in a sugary sweet aftertaste. I really enjoyed the previous anniversary beers, but this one is a little over the top.

Courtesy of fishingnet. Pours deep darkness with brown edges and thin mocha head. The aroma has solid Belgian candi sugar notes along with dark fruity esters of dates, prunes, raisins all building toward alcohol heat. Behind that is an inviting malt chocolate and malt roastiness rounded out by a bit of pepper. The taste begins sugar sweet with candi sugar to no end along with fruity esters and a background of roasted malts, chocolate malts and a bit of tasty caramel candy. Wow, this is the best Belgian type imperial stout I’ve had to date.

Bomber bottle, thanks for sharing NJDevilz69.....very very dark brown+ brown sugar head...light aromas of sweet malt, alcohol, and a subtle roasted malt coming through, but mostly alcohol....silky body----wow! holy alcohol coming through ...the saltiness of the high alcohol...whoosh!!!....a bitter alcohol infused chocolate and a salty bitter toffee...I taste a prune/raisin that quality thats mainly in the finish...I think it needs age as this is a fresh release....must re-rate
