Deep, mahogany color, rich malt candied, rock sugar flavors with sweet burnt currant and fig aromas. It’s strong alcohol content is tempered by a clean bitterness and complex flavors. This Barley Wine is named for Cornelius de Boom, the San Francisco Belgian Consulate General (1850 to 1851) and surprisingly the name of the alley along-side the 21st Amendment on 2nd Street.

Tiny can from 7 eleven in Kittery. Pours a deep copper color with a decent sized off white head that persists. Big fruity caramel notes with a bit of alcohol presence. Strong tropical especially pineapple notes with lots of resinous pine hops. Sweet almost sticky mouth. Light carbonation. Decent brew.

Draft at the brewery tap, San Leandro. Clear reddy amber coloured pour with a sticky beige head. Aroma is sweet sticky toffee, toffee apple, subdued, orange rind. Some hot alcohol on the nose. Flavour is composed of sticky toffee, hint of wood, apple, brandy apple. High boost. Palate is sweet and sticky, moderate carbonation,

Pour is a dark brown like iced tea with no head at all. Aroma is all things big. A large sweetness along with a big hop and dark fruit. Flavor is more of a dark and heavy bread with some sugar covered plums. Some hops are left on the tongue as this goes down and the alcohol is not noticable. Pretty flavorful American style barley wine. Plenty of dark malt an fruitiness with a hoppy backbone. I wish more brewers would but their high abv beer in a can this sized.

Poured from can thanks Willrunforbeer nice red color with a one finger off beige head. Aromas of sweet caramel malt and currant. Taste is malty with a hint of bitterness in the finish with a nice lingering alcohol note.

8.4 oz can [from trade with jtclockwork, thanks]. Nice red color, medium sized off-white to beige head. Smell and taste malts, sweet malts, lightly a hint of sugar, alcohol. Sticky texture, medium to full body, average carbonation. Meh.

Energy drink can poured. Pours a burnt orange color with little head. Gotta love a beer that can easily be passed as a normal beverage enjoyed while driving home. I’m kidding. But seriously. No, I’m kidding. Or am I? I am. What I’m trying to say is, I love the can. Original, which is great. Sweet, malty aroma. Sweet flavor overall, with some candy malt and sugary caramel. Lingering sweet flavor. Smooth considering the alcohol. Overall a good barley wine. Enjoyed this.
