Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a dark brown color with an orange hue and a huge foamy orange-tan head that lingered and left excellent lacing. The aroma was bitter and astringent with dish soap and cleaning solvent. The flavor was toasty, woody and bitter with faint astringency, light fruits and a bit of dish soap. Long finish. Medium body.

On tap at the wedding. Pours a golden color with a small eggshell head. A nice sweet nose with some caramel. The flavor is a smooth crisp lager with some light bitter hops, more sugary sweetness a bit of biscuit, long lasting flavor in the finish of biscuit and mild hops. Very enjoyable.

$2.25 for a small eight ounce glass. A little more golden than the ubiquitous pale yellow american lager beer, but just as clear. Aroma is rather candy like. Nice thick white head that does not fade. Taste is rather friendly, lacking any hop bitter bite but has enough personality to let you know this you are drinken German style beer. Good tingly carbonation for a tap. Finish is mildly bitter and hangs for a while. Rather enjoyable, just what I was expecting for an alt. Nice beer from Penn. Only available on tap at the brewery.
