Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a dark mahogany colored body that has infrared hues and supports a tan head of foam. The modest aroma offers up roasted malts that are tempered by malt sweetness, chocolate and then a thin fruity sensation that defies my ability to describe. The taste starts with malt balls and chocolate malts and then more chocolate blended with black licorice and molasses. To midway, and after the beer had warmed considerable, a pleasing modest chili pepper burn is noticed. The mild heat slides into the finish and well into the after taste. Pretty cool brew.
