Poured up on tap at Liberty Station where it exhibits a dark brown body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet nectar like sweet smelling malts, subtle sweetened pine hops, prunes and very ripe cherry meat. The taste is similar where a pleasing marriage of pine resiny hoppiness is hitched to smooth and nectar sweet malts. Beneath those big notes lurks soft sweet dark fruity esters like prunes and cherries. At times I get a roasty maltiness that creates a slight dryness that helps balance the sweetness a bit. Yummy barelywine.
