Strong fresh split wood, subtle elderberry. Cloudy rust, medium tan head, nice lace. Malty wood, caramel, elderberry, Medium to full body, easy carbonation. Bourbon-esque. Really beautifully crafted.

Sample at GABF 10/08/2016, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Reddish-gold color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Strings of lace. Aroma of grape must, malt and spice. Medium to full body with flavors of earthy malt, vine fruit, spice and caramel. The finish is earthy and malty with a red grape aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

$9.49 bomber (#2321/3000) from Wine Warehouse. Pours a pretty burnt-orange with an orange-beige head. Aroma of earthy mushrooms, grape must, rotting wood. Flavor is earthy - I swear there tastes like some wild (yet edible) mushrooms in there, with a hearty bitter booze bite immediately thereafter. Grains, grasses, and twig broth underneath. Not my favorite.

Pretty nice for style. Some old malt anf oaky vibes. Pours maroon without much head or lacing. Some caramel. Good raw cereal aroma. Some plum. Good stuff. Tap at Beltway.

Enjoyed at gabf 2014. It pours with a deep copper body that has a bit of a haze to it and supporting a light mocha head of foam. The mild aroma is modestly malty as well as adding faint prune and date notes. The taste starts malty and molasses and quickly getting into nice date notes that have a little bit of earthiness to them. To midway this picks up a thin sliver of ripe bright red apple. Nice old ale, it seems it could use a touch of age to smooth out and blend these flavor notes into more of a continuum of goodness.

3 oz draft pour at Adroit Theory. Clear dark amber/red with off-white head. Aromas of grapes, caramel, citrus. Tastes of big grapes and grape juice, berries, tropical fruit, light wine. Medium body with a dry finish. Syrupy mouthfeel. Smooth for the ABV.
