Can at home. With weather cooling at night time to cycle in more dark brews. Pretty black pour and one finger beige head. Nose is light ash and chocolate. Tastes of char, bitter dark chocolate and faint coffee. All subdued. Smooth easy drinking.

Pours a near black from a can. Typical malty sweet and light roasted nut aroma and flavor. Good beer.

Can pour into nonic pint glass. Appearance is very, very dark brown--only misses opaque with light source directly behind--with minimal sparkle at the edges of the glass, a few light floaties, thin cap of light brown head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is rich roasted malts, bordering on char, with hints of coffee and baker's chocolate. Taste is as aroma. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with thick texture, average-to-lively carbonation and finish as taste with pleasant lingering dry bitterness to balance the sweet. Overall, a strong aroma and flavor--nothing fancy but a good representative of the style.

Pours deep mahogany tinged brown into an English pint. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Chocolate and earth aromas. Soft with dark chocolate, licorice upfront turning to earthy decomposing leaves in the dry finish.
