We first brewed a dark mild with Omnipollo in March 2024 at their church in Stockholm, named Gordon’s Comfort Mild. Although Omnipollo are known for their delicious fruit, pastry, hoppy and modern beers, there’s a love and interest in delving into historic British beer styles. The UK is steeped in tradition when it comes to its brewing history and pub culture. Something to be proud of. It’s something we truly love and are trying to harness here at Newbarns.
Aaanyhoo, later in 2024 they re-brewed the mild and called it Emma’s Winter Mild. So we felt it was time to brew it at ours and named it Henok’s Mild. The first batch we brewed was cask only, and a handful of kegs that made their way over to Stockholm.
This mild is pretty dark, super comforting, very moreish and is now available right in time for the change of seasons.

On cask at Teuchters West End.
Appearance - deep brown with an attractive, foamy, beige head.
Nose - cherry stone and marzipan. An edge of chocolate and toffee too.
Taste - more cherry, marzipan and toffee with a brown bread backdrop.
Palate - medium bodied, creamy in texture and a very gentle bitterness on the finish.
Overall - tremendous stuff!
