This strong Moylan's brew is what keeps those Irish eyes a smiling. Its deep amber radiance has been described by our brewer as the most visually enticing beer. This ale's rich malty flavor, full body, invigorating aroma, and expansive finish empower it to be extremely satisfying and repeatedly enjoyed. Great Western Two Row Pale Malt, De Wolf-Cosyns' Caravienne and Munich Malts are allied to provide the 1.070 beginning specific gravity, while Fuggle and Liberty hops balance this sweetness. A classic rich and malty ale from Ireland. Unlike most "want-to-be" red ales, Moylan's red has a rich caramel character balanced with a low hop profile.

on tap-pours a light tan head that laces and amber color. Aroma is sweet light malt-peat. Taste is sweet light/medium mmalt-peat/caramel/chocolate, secondary earthy hops bite.

650mL bottle, pours a hazy brownish amber with a small white head. Light malts and caramel on the nose. Flavour is caramel malt and sourness. Nice ale.

Bottle. Grassy, light catty aroma. Cloudy red, fine carbonation, golden low head. Fruity chewy malt base, good grassy and citric balace. Chewy. Nice.

Bottle thanks to thirdeye1. Pours with an amber body and an off-white head. Aroma of rye, amber malts, caramel, husky grain, and burnt toast. Taste is watery and sweet. Medium to high carbonation. Watery.

Rerate: bottled @ de Molen tasting, small sample. Clear amber color, short to no head. Aroma is slight butterscotch, toffee, slight yeast aroma. Slight bitter taste, bitter. Thin bodied. Off-flavors remain. Upping the score a bit on aroma, but downgrading the score on appearance. Original rating, 2009: Bottled. Slight hazy golden color, short frothy head. Aroma of some strange vegetable, slight malty, slight hop. Buttery vegetable taste. Bleh. 3 3 3 2 6, 1.7.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours almost clear golden amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is roasted breadish, light caramelish. Semi sweet caramelish, roasted malt and mild bitterness. Ends in a lingering mix of roasted malt and subdued bitterness. Nicely balanced.

Zipps, Fall 2008. Lightly roasted grain. Light flavor, some lager yeast flavor. Simple but drinkable enough.

Pour is a dark copper with a small white head. Aroma is mostly sweet caramel malts. Flavor is some chewy earthy and caramel malts with a ever so slight roasted nut hidden in the backround. Irish red is not a style to get your kicks off of but this was a decent example of the style. Deffinatly head and shoulders above a killians.

22 oz bomber. Sediment on bottom. Orange brown beer. Just plain old beery aroma. First taste is a rather intimidating impact. Smooth and malty but exhibits a flavor of higher alky brews. Medicinal malt finish. Probably would not purchase again. For style, not as good as North Country McCafferty’s Ale or Saranac Irish Red Ale.

Draft @ the brewpub. Pours a reddish color with a small off-white head.Has a malty hoppy caramel aroma. Sweetish malty hoppy caramel flavor. Has a sweetish malty hoppy finish.
