This strong Moylan's brew is what keeps those Irish eyes a smiling. Its deep amber radiance has been described by our brewer as the most visually enticing beer. This ale's rich malty flavor, full body, invigorating aroma, and expansive finish empower it to be extremely satisfying and repeatedly enjoyed. Great Western Two Row Pale Malt, De Wolf-Cosyns' Caravienne and Munich Malts are allied to provide the 1.070 beginning specific gravity, while Fuggle and Liberty hops balance this sweetness. A classic rich and malty ale from Ireland. Unlike most "want-to-be" red ales, Moylan's red has a rich caramel character balanced with a low hop profile.

Bottle from Salling, Aarhus. Clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and light hoppy - fruity. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Dry and light bitter finish. 020213

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy orange-amber color with a medium sized foamy orange-white head that left no lacing. The aroma was sweet caramel, vegetal malts and a touch of honey. The flavor was sweet, malty and a bit tangy with touches of vegetal malts and caramel. Medium length sour, tangy and malty finish. Eh.

On tap at The Hay Merchant. Pours a clear orange gold with a frothy white head that lasts awhile. The aroma is citrus and honey. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet hop and citrus with a light bitter finish. A decent irish ale from Moylans.

bottle - This ale is rather one dimensional. It’s all about the roast caramel in the aroma and the flavor. That’s not a bad thing though. It does what it does quite well. Medium bodied with a solid, malty flavor, it’s an enjoyable quaff.

Aroma: The nose is clean and malty, nutty notes, caramel, bread, and some light tartness too
Appearance: Pours a mostly clear dark orange color with an off-white head and almost no lace
Flavor: The taste is fairly heavily malty, bread and caramel, medium sweet, and lightly bitter/tart
Palate: The mouthfeel is fairly clean and smooth, light-medium bodied, and it is a touch on the watery side
Overall Impression: Overall, this is a decent offereing, but it comes off as sort of underwhelming. I found this one to be perfectly fine. "Fine" really is the best way to describe this one.

Bomber pours amber-ish copper with off white head. The aroma offers up firm nuttiness, a bit of yeast and fruity esters followed by roasted malts, rich earthiness and some biscuit like malts. Interesting brew. The taste is similar with a nice level of nuttiness, some yeasty notes and textures, roasted malts, earthy like malts and some sweet fruity esters pulling up the rear. Overall it doesn’t pull together as well as my taste buds declare that it should.

Bottle. Clear reddish amber with a white head that dissipates. Aroma of toffee and a little spice and grass. Watery (at 6.5%!). Taste is sweet with slightly toasty caramel, a hint of peat. Little bitterness, but enough hops to dry it out at the end. Didn’t do much for me.

Weak aroma of cherries and malt, alcohol on the nose. Cloudy rust, thick peach colored head. Tastes as it smells, but with moderate strength and some tea notes at midpalate. Grassy hay finish. Pretty weak, but that’s typical for the style, of which I’m not a fan. Decent for an Irish red, I’ll submit.

Dull lifeless amber with no head. Lame, going nowhere amber ale. Vague malt accent. No distinct anything. Quite forgettable, even while you’re drinking it. Random anonymous liquid.
