A full-flavoured, full-strength winter brew – rich, robust and malty to start. Northern Brewer and Goldings hops, with a hint of Cascade, give the hearty brew a complex depth with flavours of caramel, liquorice and chocolate and overtones of roasted coffee and blackcurrant – a truly delicious beer.

Bottle at Chriso Easter "Flags of many nations" Tasting, 31/03/13 thanks to Chris. Lightly hazed reddish amber with a thin off white head that retains well. Nose is malt, caramel, sugars, thin dark fruit notes. Taste comprises dark malt, toffee, fruits, bit bland and twiggy. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, fruit in the finish. Pretty mediocre.

Tasting at ChrisO’s. Hazy amber beer, good fluffy off white head. Good marmalade hops - light but bitter. Light dry finish. Not bad.

Bottle from Whistle Wines, Exeter. Deep copper in colour, with a tight off-white head. Rich, fruity malt aroma with some caramel. Very easy drinking for the ABV, with a sweet, caramel flavour and decent bitter finish. Ok.
