Bottle: Unfiltered In 1952, in order to place the modernisation of the brewery on the right commercial footing, much care was taken with the launch of Rochefort's two new beers. The refectory beer had been the basis for the development of the ‘Middel’ (also known as ‘Merveille’) which became the Rochefort 6. The 10, however, needed something else to elevate it: candy sugar, steeped in the wort in metal baskets, quite an innovation in those days. Furthermore, two malts were used in the brewing process: pils and caramel malt, as well as wheat starch, two varieties of hops and Rochefort’s own yeast. The result was the powerful Rochefort 10, a beer sure to warm your heart with its robust dose of alcohol.

Malty, creamy taste with a lot of sweetness in there. Fruit-like in body also.

bottiglia 33 cl, vintage, sicuramente una birra superiore complessa ed estremamente bevibile ma mi manca quel più……. che la rende super. Alla prossima puntata. Grazie Luca 28.01.23 bottiglia 33 cl, schiuma cappuccino fine media persistenza, color marrone/mogano intenso, al naso malto lieviti belgi spezie vino porto zucchero di canna, in bocca è pulita malto caramello uvetta sotto spirito frutta candita e zucchero di canna, carbonatazione accentuata, corpo strutturato, alcool ben bilanciato, dolce con amaro deciso lungo nel finale. Da riprovare quando ne capirò un po' di più. Buon anno! 30.12.17

Flaska delad med Lilja och Vignale, från 2009. Brunmurken med liten beige krona. Ganska murrig arom med kola, dessertvin, övermogna äpplen, choklad, kakao, likörpralin, mörka körsbär och mörk torkad frukt. Ligger nära i smaken. Kroppen känner av lite lagring. Dock förvånansvärt mycket alkoholvärme kvar, och fortfarande lite spritsig - även om det är en del inslag av blöt kartong där med. Vissa smaker har utvecklats, men andra inte. Lite ojämnt utvecklad? Tveksam på om det skulle bli bättre av att stå längre? Sätter lite högre poäng än vad jag tycker att denna bör ha, med en mer färsk flaska i åtanke. [2017-11-19] Flaska 2015. 3,8 [2019-05-24]

Bottle from Pezinská pivná pumpa. A lovely Q. It's actually a plum bomb and as I love slovak plum brandy I only rate high.

Poured from 33cl bottle(best by 08/09) a cloudy dark brown with a large head of foam that dissipated slowly leaving just a fine layer with lots of lacing.
The smell is all sweet and fruity and yeasty with strong notes of plum. A very nice nose indeed.
The taste is very sweet up front; I note molasses & fig(?) with just a touch of the plum that I noted in the smell and no yeasty flavour at all. The alcohol is not a factor in the taste but does create a bit of a warming feeling...nothing wrong with that but I know that 1 of these is all that I could handle at 1 sitting. ;^)
Bottom line: I had this brew a couple of years ago and I have to honestly say, I didn't care much for it at the time but now, after expanding my palate's horizons, so to speak, I find this brew a definite winner and certainly a world class product. I thoroughly recommend it!

0,33 l bottle. A darkest red brown in the glass. One finger pale beige head. Malty fruity smell. Taste ist malty, sweet, warming alcoholic. Some wood, fruity. Mid alcoholic sharpness in the late aftertaste. Nice.
