Sour blonde ale aged in oak barrels with apricots

An Arabic term for "when the apricots bloom," Filmishmish is a sour blonde ale with apricots that balances the crisp tartness of a well-crafted sour ale with noted of fresh apricot jam and oak. This ale skillfully turns "wishful thinking" into "wishful doing."

Sampled from a bottle. Sour yeast aroma and lots of apricot. Flavor is loaded with apricot, I have never tasted so much of it in any other beer. It blends nicely with the sourness.

750mL bottle, sent from adamjackson (thanks Adam), pours a hazy golden orange with a tiny white head. Aroma is sort of like a berliner weisse, with citric wheat notes, light apricots and a little oak. Flavour is similar, bringing out subdued apricots, wheat, some jam, and a little oak and moderate tartness. Quite a nice tartness, sort of like a blend between a sour blonde and a berliner. Very easy drinking, with no harsh notes or vinegar notes (as is common with The Bruery's sours). Great stuff.

Bottled. An unclear golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma has notes of brettanomyces, lemons, straw, and hints of apricots. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of brettanomyces and acetone, combined with medium notes of malt, and light notes of tart finish.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of anacrime. Pours a cloudy golden with a small, rough white head. Very tart and funky aroma. Medium body, lowish carbonation, a slight initial whiff of sweet fruit - I actually believe I can detect a little apricot - but soon a very dry and astringent tartness takes over. A subtle and pleasant touch of wood. Very enjoyable actually. A Bruery take on FouFoune? 250213
