The Abbot is the father of our Abbey. Rich, with dark fruit notes and belgian esters from the belgian candy sugar used in the boil, our quad is traditional and strong but easy to drink.

Knowing I like quads, my son got a 16 oz can of Abbot for me at the brewpub in Tulsa. So, in the heat of this brutal summer, I have my Straffe Hendrik tulip glass ready and waiting for the pour. It arrives a dark, cola-colored liquid with respectable skim of tan foam that promptly withers to a ring. The smell is nicely traditional, figs, grain and a small hint of ripe cherries. The drink is also customary with the style. I taste dates, sorghum, candi sugar, plenty of malt, red cherries, yeast and straw. Dense and chewy. A good pitch down the middle of the plate. Now I want to go to Tulsa. --- Beer merged from original tick of Eerie Abbot on 05 Aug 2023 at 22:58 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8.
