My 750 ml bottle was acquired through the Rare Beer Club, happy to obtain a quadrupel of this from them. The label says it came from Temple, Texas and that the abv is 10%. It is not often I have to remove a cage from a beer these days but I am not complaining. The cork? That is another story. Tilting the bottle into my Straffe Hendrik tulip glass, the appearance is a shiny, dark brown body and a here-and-gone skim of light tan foam. I smell ripe plums, yeast and malt, nothing out of the ordinary for the style. The drink ultimately, yes, this is a pretty decent American produced quad. Figs, raisins, some yeastiness, grain, toffee and plenty of malt. I detect a moderate sweetness along a curious bit of sourness. The night is long, I like quadrupels and this bottle will serve me well.

Sampled on draft at a Pittsburgh location this beer poured a caramel brown color with a medium sized foamy tan head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was astringent and harsh with fusel alcohol, bubblegum and toffee. Very long finish. Moderately full bodied.
