Barleywine-style dark ruby beer. aged in casks of Rye Whisky (rye-based whisky) previously used for bourbon. Full and soft body with notes of melted caramel, vanilla, toasted wood, dark fruit, tropical and floral notes, toffee, honey and a clear breath of whisky. A great meditation beer like our Strongest Than Ever, but with an even higher level of complexity, as far as possible. This type of beer is part of White Pony's Oak Barrel Aged Collection, which are beers aged in barriques.

Another White Pony beer delivered by Belgian Happiness. Always pleasing to get to try a brew like this. I pop the top to the 33 cl bottle and make a pour inside of an ABGB tulip glass. The appearance is a cola colored liquid followed by a strong head of pillowy light tan foam. There is a decent scent to it, dark fruit, booze and whole grain bread. And I get to the drink. Really good, I can say right off that I do not recall a better barley wine I have ever had. And I like the style considerably. Raisins, ripe plums, a copious amount of whisky, bread, wood, malt, barley, caramel and sorghum. Full in its mouthfeel which other barley wines often fall short of. Complex and good that way. I'll wait for the alcohol to kick in but that is all right. A prime level beer in general and barley wine specifically imho.
