Lots to anticipate with this beer. A quad that is bourbon barrel aged and comes in at 21% abv. That is large. A 33 cl bottle that came from Belgian Happiness, I am lifting the cap before pouring into a tulip glass. Dark caramel in color with a significant head of light brown foam that slowly dissipates to a steady skim. The scent is enticing, I determine raisins, dark plums, yeast and some booziness. All that is good, but the taste, geez, is glorious, sort of a quadrupel cocktail. Dark bread, figs, black raisins, bourbon, malt, alcohol, a bit of chocolate, black cherries and maybe some candied orange slices. So much going on here. A little bitterness at the finish, just so complete. I obviously have an appreciation, not sure what the marginal Belgian ale fan will think. White Pony has bowled me over with two quadrupel offerings recently. That is what the brewer does and this is a mighty fine beer.
