Draft. A pitch black beer with a thick dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, bread, and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate, sweet malt, roasted malt, bread, and a bit of wood, leading to a bitter finish. The best beer ever from Apollo?

From tap @ Apollo, Copenhagen. This one is really black, it had a small tan head, but that's faded in to nothing by now. The aroma has burned and roasted elements with lots of bitter licorice and some hints of wet cardboard? and honey. Really slick on the mouthfeel and the carbonation is average to soft. Also lots of roasted flavors in this one. It's both a bit dry and sweet. Lots of chocolate and burned espresso in the aftertaste and there's also a nice solid bitterness well blended together with all the sweet. A good one. We actually got approached by one of the brewers (Jacob) while we were drinking this one and he invited us down to the cellar for a guided tour if we came back at another time. 06.01.2012

On tap. Black and almost opaque with an orange hue and a beige head. Sweetish pruney aroma with a distinct touch of smoked malts. Solid body, again solid accents of sweet prunes, raisins and vanilla with that smoky edge still there. The black malts only really appear in a little late malt bitterness. Solid indeed. 281211
