Blueberry Trainwreck is the first in a series of collaboration IPA’s between Matchless Brewing and Triceratops Brewing called Built for Weed; meant to celibrate our states love of all things green! Our first installment is a ludicrous triple IPA made for Nat at Brouwers Cafe for the Hop Mob Triple IPA Roadshow launch. The beer’s simple base of 2-row, pilsner, oats and sugar are meant to get out of the way of the crazy amounts of Mosaic, Chinook and Tomohawk hops that will wreck pallet with big dank and blueberry madness.

Draft pour in a flight of triples at Coopers Ale house, for their version of the 2018 Hop Mob event. A hazy golden orange pour with a glow, but not as bright as the Reubens. That one wins the glow award this time. Tons of foam head and lacing. In a blind, I don't think I would have immediately picked out blueberry. Pretty dank on the aroma. Too dank. Flavor is viciously sweet up front, and a harsh dank hop and vegetable flavor to follow. Maybe the blueberry creates, or adds to, the over the top sweetness. For the first time since I was first introduced to Matchless, I dislike a beer. I'm as surprised as I could ever be. Very rare miss from some of the best right here.
