Aroma: Roast malt, wood and chocolate.

Appearance: Hazy ruby/mahogany body with a thick cream head that holds well. No visible carbonation. Excellent lacing.

Taste: Bitter coffee, chocolate and sharp red fruit flavours. Really well balanced and drinkable.

Palate: Medium body with an oily texture. Soft carbonation.

Overall: Excellent balance between fruity hop flavours and rich, roasted malt.

Cask-conditioned at the Cask Pub and Kitchen 19/08/2011. Dark chestnut colour with next to no head. Sweet, nuts and berry fruit aroma. Full bodied mouth feel, with caramel sweetness, chewy nuts followed by a savoury edge and moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask at CPK. Pours dark, ruby-brown with a foamy, off-white head. Aroma holds nuts and subtle, roasted malts. Flavor has a good bit of herbal, leafy hops, a distinct nuttiness and light sweetness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Some hops in the finish, good toast and more nuts. Decent brew.
