“La Petite Mort” means “a little death” in French. What’s a little death if it comes in this form? Well worth it we think. Released on July 14, 2009 Bastille day. This Belgian inspired strong abbey brown ale was brewed with a Belgian Ardennes yeast strain that imparts an aroma of cloves and a complex spiceyness. This is balanced by flavors of mild fruit and hints of earthy tobacco notes.

Draft pour schooner at the brewery. Pours a dark reddish copper color with a tan fizz head. Mild dark fruit aroma. Belgian inspired beer as its described, but it tastes as belgian as they get. Complex flavor, with dark fruit, belgian yeast, and rich malt. Very nice combo of flavor going here. Has a plum like fruity finish, and has a finish that shows it’s strength. A bit of a mind blowing beer for me here. Very special brew.
