Boilermaker is a copper-coloured IPA brewed with Ben and Tom from Thinking Drinkers. Brewed with Chinook, Simcoe, Cascade and Willamette hops and matured with Penderyn whisky infused oak chips in casks from the distillery, the arts of distillation and brewing combine to create an epic Welsh IPA adorned with a fragrant citrus aroma, a touch of spice with hints of vanilla and a warm whisky finish.

Bottled. An amber beer with an orangey head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, and spicy hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, straw, and spicy hops, leading to a biiter finish.

Bottle picked up by my dad Consumed at home Sunday 17.08.13 cheers dad! Copper in colour with off-white head. I have to start by saying that I am mot picking up much in the way of spirit, however oak and vanilla do come through. It isn’t overly hoppy or in even in the same league as many of the very good UK craft IPA’s but by the same token it ain’t bad. It comes across as a more rustic IPA, caramel lingers, bitterness is moderate, hops a little earthy. Fine and better than many very average beers to be found in the supermarket aisle of Sainsburys I guess. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov13 3.2

Bottle from Tesco, Leith [070813]
Dark orange amber, clear, thin white head, little lacing
Aroma of soft orangey malts, quite sweet nise, slight alcohol, hint of red berries, fruity caramel
Taste - lots of fruity sweet caramel malt, very slight whisky note, slight vanilla, some soft spicy hops, touch of caramelised orange, not an IPA, alcohol nicely hidden
Palate - soft carb, medium body, quite oily, palate a bit over sweet. Finish as main flavour, soft sweet fruity caramel
Overall - Better than the Barry Island, seemed better put together, soft whisky notes work well here. Too malty to be an IPA. Just as a beer it was quite good

Bottle from Tesco. It’s not entirely awful. there is some ok decent hoppy beer up front and then a misplaced, unintegrated flavour towards the finish. Not sure it all works together the hops, and the whisky. Hmmmm.

Bottle from Tesco Watford. Pours an amber colour with a quickly dissipating head. Definite whisky notes in the aroma, but not in a really appealing way. Some light hop, but considering the style, this is light. Not a very nice slightly chemically aftertaste.

Bottle shared at the ChrisO Flags of Many Nations Easter Tasting 2013 - London. Pours perfectly clear gold with a light, white cream head. Hints of tangy citrus and salty pale malts in the aroma. Light to medium sweet flavor with some hay, faint tangy fruits. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Moderately dry to finish with dry biscuity pale malts, perhaps some dried citrus. Kind of interesting, pretty tasty.

330ml bottle. Pours a clear copper amber colour, foamy off-white head leaving some lacing and malty, woody oak aroma. Taste is malt caramel, abit fruity, with notes of vanilla, oak and lingering bitterness. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry bitter finish. OK.
