This Stout has a load of late hop additions to bring that zest and poke to the nose. Beautiful delicate coffee and chocolate notes lie in the smooth character of the malts.

Draught @ CBC 2014. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, licorice. Flavor is malts, coffee, dark chocolate, licorice, little tart, dark fruit. Medium body, average carbonation, 030514

Bottled 330ml ABM. Dark brown color, good beige head. Earthy, coffeeish aroma with tarrish roast. Medium-bodied. Roasted, tobacco flavor. Dark malts, roasty bitterness. Kind of thinnish palate. Too ashy for my liking, perhaps some difference between the batches.

Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Minerally crisp palate, semi dry. Roasty malt with a little coffee but not much bitterness. Thin malt cream and a mild lactose note. Whisper of orange hops. Smooth semi dry finish. Rich malts in a thin palate.

BBE 17 MAY 2014 - Pours pitch black with a smooth white head. Aroma of roasted malts, licorice, dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is roasty, salty and bitter with loads of licorice, dark chocolate and coffee notes. Finish is smooth, bitter and roasty with some salty licorice and chocolate. Nice, quite balanced, roasty and bitter stout.

Taste is roasty, salty and bitter with loads of licorice, dark chocolate and coffee notes. Finish is smooth, bitter and roasty with some salty licorice and chocolate. Nice, quite balanced, roasty and bitter stout.

Bottle from Sourced Market in St Pancras Station, London. Poured a thick, viscous black colour with a dense tan head. Aroma of burnt malt, blackcurrent and dark chocolate. Velvet mouth feel. Flavours of dark fruit, roasted malt, molasses. Finished with burnt malt and hop bitterness. Very nice.

33cl bottle. Born 19/12, death 16/11/?. Pitch black, brown head. Licorice, roasted malt, ashy aroma. Flavor is ash, roasted malt, soya, cocoa. Mouthdrying finish with cocoa. Almost full bodied. Good.

Deja vu having already reviewed this andd my wanky laptop freezing up and making me force quite and lose it .... grrrr. Bottle split at JFâs, from Sourced, 23/08/13. Very dark mahogony brown/faded black with a mahoosive light tan head that retains well. Nose is roast malt, mineral notes, chocolate, toffee. Taste comprises roast malt, light coffee bean, cocoa dusting, minerals, earthy, background hop presence. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finish. Really good stout!
