Had a few of these at Raleigh News- couldn’t stop ordering them! Dark with a ring of beige, rocky head. Aroma is full of dark lightly toasted and roasted malts, chocolate, a touch of cocoa powder, caramel, and a bit of dark fruit. Medium bodied. Flavor was chocolate, toasted malts, light coffee, a bit of dark fruits, caramel, and light earthy tones. Very tasty and hard to put down.

Rich coffee, raisin, unmalted roasted barley, and tobacco nose. Clear cola, thick tan head with fair retention. Coffee flavor with only subtle hints of raisins. Layers of different roastiness spring forth upon warming. Some cola notes. Toasty! Charred grain finish with raisinet accents. Silky smooth. This is what I expect from a porter, true to style, very well done.

Bottle at home - 08/06/12 thanks to Sam. Dark chestnut brown approaching black in colour with a medium off-white head. Lots of roasted malts on the nose and a good pinch of coffee. Tastes follow from nose allied to a some nutiness, background earthy hop and a touch of smokiness. Medium bodied with a dry finish. Decent porter.

Draft. Deep brown body with a tan head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, molasses and cola. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture and moderate carbonation. Taste of bittersweet chocolate and coffee with a hint of grapefruit bitterness. It’s noticeably thin, but its strength is in its balance between sweet and bitter and the nice flavors the balance produces.
