Bottle. A clear, dark amber beer with a dense, light beige head on top. Caramel, some faint notes of dms, and grassy, piney hints of hops in the aroma. The flavor is pretty much the same, caramel and grassy, piney hops, and of course a little bitterness. Caramel, dried fruits and bitterness in the finish, just enough bitterness to keep it sort of balanced. Full-bodied and warming on the palate. A really nice doppelbock, well-brewed and tasteful. 130508

Aroma has berries, malty notes and slight sour notes. Flavour has berries, lots of slightly harsh malt, some toasted notes and chocolate. Mint in the finish. Nice.

Bottled. Copper colour, small slightly off-white head that disappears quite fast. Aroma is rye bread, some mild toasted malts as well as some mild not-too-sweet syrupy notes. Flavour is raisins, some toffee, plum and mild rye bready and toasted notes.

Bottle 330ml. w. swing top.Clear medium to dark red brown colour with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, sugary, chocolate malt. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light moderate bitter with a long duration, roasted - chocolate bitter, cacao bitter, sugary, burnt caramel sweet. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20121231]
