We invited Phil Wymore, former Half Acre brewer and current mastermind behind Perennial Artisan Ales out of St. Louis, to the brewery for a collaborative brew sesh. The outcome is Two Tugs, a brawny brown ale that unites two corners of Illinois. The aroma presents elements of molasses, toffee, and dark cherry, adds elements of licorice, hazelnut and chocolate to the taste, and finishes strong and warm with stone fruit on top of more sweet chocolate. Related to Thunder & Son in style and spirit, but more of a smaller cousin than a twin brother. 8% ABV.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of kristina. Pours a clear reddish brown with a small, off-white head. Sweet nutty nose with somewhat greasy hops. Medium body, burned caramel, nuts and again somewhat greasy hops not adding all that much bitterness. But quite a pleasant Imperial Brown. 150313

On tap at the taproom. Pours a near clear dark brown with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has coffee up front with a hint of dark grains underlying. Flavor starts with some coffee but mellows to dark grain and roasted malts.
