500ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours clear dark brown, red chinks. Short-lived bubbly off-white head. Aromas of toffee and nuts. Taste has a fruitiness alongside treacle sweetness. A little thin, but a dry finish. Nice.

Bottle from Alesela. It pours deep brown with a thick beige head. The nose is sweet, fruity, brown bread, meaty, earth and mild smoke. The taste is bitter-sweet, spicy, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, earth, wood, coffee and toast with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not much depth, but easy drinking anyhow.

Bottle from Nina’s Mini Market. Dark brown body with ruby highlights. Thin off-white head that holds well. Great lacing. Aroma of toffee and blackcurrant. Flavour of roasted malt, berries and a hint of chocolate. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. Good flavour for 3.0% ABV. Good.

Bottled. Mahogany colour, no head. Light woody nose. Completely flat with light body and rounded mouthfeel. The lack of carbonation makes it hollow, despite promising woody malt character. Low-medium bitterness.
