Dark brown coloured body with some lighter amber tints and a bit of copper hues at the bottom, all with a one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of toasty malt, nuts, earth, caramel and a hint of concord grapes. Medium-bodied; Strong earthy maltiness noticeable with a good sweetness, some light spices and not much else. Aftertaste shows the malt with a hint of alcohol, some sweetness and a good mellow earthiness. Overall, a nice beer - can’t believe I never sampled this one, but well worth a drink, especially if you are eating some German food! I sampled this stubby (german style) 33 cL bottle purchased from Old Europe restaurant in Washington, DC for US$6.00 today on 23-March-2013.

Whole Foods, Bowery 330ml ($3): Pours a light brown. almost amber color, with a creamy looking creme coloured head. Taste is slightly sweet. There be some caramel taste. Not very much in the way of hops. Nothing offensive, but nothing interesting in this dunkel. Well, at least it is organic, hehe.

Bottled at the Top of the Hops Festival, Charlottesville, 9/22/12. Organic version. Pours a clear copper color with a thin fizzy tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel, raisin and a dusty note. The taste is raisin, toffee, herbal hops, stone fruits. Medium bodied and a slight lingering bitterness. Nice.

Sample bottle for review. Kicks up a nice fizzy head. Deep brown, but pretty clean body. Smell has some of that agricultural graininess, with the usual dark German malts. Pretty fizzy on first taste. Dunkel graininess continues on the tongue. This has plenty of malt to cover up any hop note here, but it works just fine.

Bottle. Pours dark brown. Nose/taste of toasted malt and barley, grain, light chocolate and caramel. Finishes short - light to medium. Clean dunkel.

Location: 330 ml bottle at NY Terps Event, 6/7/12, as Neumarkter Lammsbräu Organic Dunkel
Aroma: The nose has toffee and caramel malts, with some earthy notes as well
Appearance: This brew pours a clear brown color with an off-white head
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet, with a light earthy hop bitterness for a little balance
Palate: The body is light-medium, smooth and a touch thin on the mouth, with a decent drinkability
Overall Impression: This was the best thing I had at the event, but it still wasn’t great. It was a decent, drinkable Dunkel, but it certainly wasn’t a great beer.

Smells a little like old lager. Nice brown color, on the lighter side. A little bitter at first but then you notice the mildness after a while. Yes, does not hide alky well. Malty doughy finish. Not as well mannered as I like my dunkels to behave.

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks beerandbeyond. As "Neumarkter Lammsbräu Organic Dunkel". Brown. Cereals and vegetables aroma, a bit wort-like. Sweet flavor of cereals and caramel. Light to medium-bodied.
