330ml Bottle - Copper coloured with a small head. Fruity,malty,metallic and slightly roasted aroma with notes of nuts and dried fruit. Fruity,malty and slightly sweet taste with grain,dried fruit and caramel.

Bottle at Busboys & Poets. Pours slightly hazy chestnut color; extra points for a nice looking bottle! Shaped like a kettle I guess. Aroma of warm pecan pie. taste is caramel and butterscotch. Sweet stuff, good dessert beer.

Bottle @ Flensburg. Pours dark amber with a small creamy white head and lacings. Nose is sweet toffee, paper and christmas calendar chocolate. Smooth palate. A bit of grain and slightly roasted flavor

Review from notes 10/01/2007 I had the privilege of tasting this several times in 2 oz samples at the German Beer Fest in 2007. Reddish brown in color with an off white head. Some caramel and roasted oats. What really comes through is the grains. I can smell the mash in the nose and taste it as well. For any of you who homebrew, the smell that comes from your mash tun I can smell and taste in this beer. No doubt this beer is a decoction mashed. This is a remarkable brew! I can’t say that I’ve had anything quite like this before. I got the impression that they may be trying to export this soon. I hope they do, because I’d love to taste this again. Update 8/25/09 I had the opportunity to try this one again as I found it in a local store. I know the ones that I got to try at the German Beer Fest were super fresh, and I believe the ones that I found in the store were not. Pours a dark brown with beautiful reddish hues and a bubbly off white head dissipates quickly. Smells of caramel, brown sugar, dark fruits, plums come to mind. Slight grain in the nose. Taste is sweet, caramel and dark fruits, slight bready grain, lingering burnt sugar in the finish, no hops at all. Creamy smooth mouth, medium level of carbonation, thick body. Not a bad beer, but I’m just not blown away like I was before.

Bottled (from mein-biershop.de). Deep rubyish amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is chocolate, caramel malts, some mild nuttyness as well as dark dry fruits. Very pleasant. Flavour is ashes, some roasted notes, mild nuttyness as well as some slight tones of chocolate.
