50cl bottle from Bitter Virtue, Southampton. A slightly hazy straw coloured pour with a thin white head; lemony citrus aroma with a touch of earthy spice; crisp, citrusy, tropical fruit flavour; with a slowly building spicy bitterness. Rather good.

500ml Bottle - Golden with a slight haze. Lemon, earthy hops and malt in the aroma. Earthy and lemony taste with notes of earthy hops featuring in the rather grassy and fairly bitter finish.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a very slightly cloudy orangy yellow with a thin white broken head. The aroma is floral with some fruity notes. The flavour is very clean, sharp and bitter. There are some grassy floral notes in there and some stinging nettles and a slightly soapy aftertaste too. It’s quite a shocking beer and I don’t mean that in a bad way! My first mouthful knocked me back as it was so different to anything else i’d ever tasted, but it really grew on me over time and I really enjoyed the rest of the bottle. This would be a great thirst quencher in the summer time.

Aroma: Herbal, floral and a little lemony.
Appearance: Hazy golden body with a medium white head. Light carbonation. Nice lacing.
Taste: Very floral with cereal and herbal flavours. Strong, lingering bitterness.
Palate: Thin to medium body with a slightly oily texture. Soft carbonation.
Overall: On this evidence, I think Nugget is a hop that would work better in combination with others, rather that on its own. Floral and very bitter.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol, 9/09/2012. This was the unfined version. Deep gold in colour with a sight white head. Light, herbal aroma with a slightly floral edge. Decent, cereal malt flavour, with a hint of fruit and lingering bitter finish. Good.
