Abduction in the dead of night, an eerie silence consumes the blackened sky. In an instant, BOOM, a single beam engulfs you. Panic stricken, you flee in no particular direction. It’s of little use, as you’re lifted effortlessly from the safety and comfort of the earth into a darkness unknown. Resistance is futile. They have you now. Abduction has you now.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, roasted malt, and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, soy sauce, and caramel, leading to a dry iodinic finish.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Pours an opaque black with a small beige head. Thick, sweet roast, dark dried fruit and booze. Rich body, more figs and dates than roast really, subtle vanilla and a rather boozy finish. Not the most subtle of Imperial Stouts but still quite enjoyable. 150313

Bomber. Batch 41.Pours a pitch black color with a medium creamy brown head. A nice nose of ash, fruity hops. The flavor is initially quite hoppy with pine, some light roast, cocoa, more ash and bitter dark chocolate. Really hoppy for a stout and well made. Great full palate.

Purchased at Binny’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed with a good friend while bottling some homebrew on a work night before eating dinner at the Southern. This stuff was good, thick, and intense. Appearance is a thick, viscous dark black with a very thin tan/brown head. Aroma is rich in dark chocolate, coffee, along with an apparent hop profile which I think is a rarity in stouts but have smelled this in the other Pipeworks stout I’ve had. Taste is potent and goes down with a moderate bitterness. I thought this stuff was pretty damn good.
