Frye’s Leap IPA is an intense experience. From the American caramel malt, which gives Frye’s Leap IPA its golden color, to the unique and intense dry-hopped aroma of pine and grapefruit, this beer is every bit as exciting as its namesake.

12 oz. can from a grocery store in South Portland, Maine. Pours a hazy gold color with a white head and great retention. Good lacing. Bitter floral hops aroma. Bitter floral hops taste to match the nose. A little citrus in the dry finish, but not enough to balance the bitterness. Medium body with good carbonation.

Taster pour at Powder Keg Beer and Chili Festival. Appearance is hazy light brown, 1/2-finger width of foamy light brown head with mild lacing. Aroma is strong, astringent lemon (like industrial cleanser), floral. Taste is strong astringent lemon, like drinking Pledge. Palate is light bodied with thin texture, average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, this one went awry. Didn't want to finish even a taster pour amount.

Pours a dark amber. Unassuming, some pine and tropical notes. A little sweet. Good beer.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Nikki's Liquors, 4/30/15
Aroma: It has strongly fruity aroma, grapefruit/orange, caramel, and some herbal notes.
Appearance: The pour is clear orange with a clean white head, and some fairly strong lacework.
Flavor: The flavor is solid, not quite as good as the aroma, nice sweetness/bitterness balance.
Palate: The mouthfeel is clean, with a medium body, average carbonation, and a mid-dry finish.
Overall Impression: This is a good, solid IPA. It isn't a top of style offering, but I would happily drink it again.

On tap at the Kennebunk location. An amber pour with a ring of white head; floral aroma; the taste is piney at first, but then developing some grapefruit citrus; the finish is dry, warming and satisfying. A very drinkable IPA that’s not as assertive as some, but still packs a punch.
