On tap at Societe. Classical US Imperial Stout. Heavy specialty malts. Heavy hops. Really good. Fresh, big, thick, heavy. Really nice. Straightforward and really well executed.

Bomber from Final Gravity in Roseville, CA. Pours dark brn/blk with a slight dark tan head. Aroma of toffee, anise, chocolate, maybe coffee. Med ++ body. Flavor is earthy chocolate, earthy dark malt, anise, dark coffee, and lots of other stuff. I call complex. It’s not dry, but it’s so earthy and decently bitter, it might as well be called dry. Or malty, malty, malty. Amazingly tasty ale. Excellent.

Draught @ OBriens. Rated on 25.08.2015. Aroma is nice and sweet with lots of cocoa and some licorice. Also tobacco. Flavour has salty licorice, some ash, hints of tobacco and mild coffee tones. Finishes with slightly disturbing alcohol kick. Aroma was nice but flavour is a bit too salty.

Pours pitch black with a brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, licorice, coffee, dark chocolate, molasses and syrup. Taste is smooth, slightly sweetish and roasty with loads of licorice, coffee, dark chocolate, molasses and syrup. Finish is sweetish, heavy and roasty. A bit sweetish but otherwise quite balanced and tasty.

[2/20/15] Draught at Societe in San Diego. Black with a nice brown head. Heavily roasty aroma with coffee, licorice and some cocoa. Bittersweet flavor, roasty, coffee-ish, with some dark chocolate, licorice and a bitter finish, more roasty, with some hops. Nice full body.

Pitch black color with dark brown head. Huge molasses, coffee, roasted malty nose that is a touch on the sweet side. The mouth is heavy with tons of molasses, dark fruit, dark chocolate and agressive roastiness. Somewhat sweet. Really good depth, though doesn’t take me to anywhere to new.
